Twine
Face-to-face, deep conversations with strangers
Twine started as a service that enables face-to-face, meaningful conversations between strangers, with a mission to end loneliness. The app was a digital companion to the real-life meetups. On the app, members would select topics of interest and questions in those topics. They they would attend the topic-based gatherings in their neighborhood.
The app matches them with multiple conversation partners based on their selected topics and questions. Each conversation would last for a set time after which they move on to the next partner. The app syncs with each conversation and the gathering as a whole, and builds up a virtual diary of those gatherings. I was looped in as their founding product designer.
During the event, the app syncs with the real event, helping the guests find their partners, showing the questions they want to discuss, and letting them give feedback on the conversation and partners.
The app recommends gatherings in their neighborhood, keep a memory book of the gatherings and media associated with them. It would let the members keep in touch between the gatherings.
Version 2
Unfortunately, when we were ready with the app and the first gathering scheduled in New York, COVID-19 struck. Face-to-face was restricted, and Twine evolved to make the conversations digital. Later it again evolved to meet the requirements of remote teams.
